Summer hols saving tips
A national newspaper has asked us to write an article (dead heavyweight this) on how to keep the kids occupied over the summer hols without spending a fortune. So send us your tips. The quirkier the better.

Get your children to try and make sense of the government’s economic policy. By the time they have concluded it makes no sense it should be September.

1. Let the children run a “restaurant” one night a week. They plan the menu, design a name, make signs, set the table and serve food. Grown-ups leave reviews in a silly notebook.
2. Send the children on a mission to collect “artefacts” - feathers, stones, weird-shaped leaves. Then they create a pop-up museum at home with exhibit labels, guided tours, and very serious security guards.
3. Remember loads of places offer kids eat free deals so a full day out doesn’t need to cost too much.
