Every example below is a Newspage story, or a sponsor's own page linked from one, appearing on page one of Google or in Google's AI Overview for a search people actually make. Each one was seen on Google UK by the Newspage team and logged with the date and time.
How to read these: each result is what Google showed at the time stated, checked in a private window. Search results move, especially for news, so a position on one day is not a promise for the next. The screenshots are held by Newspage and available on request.

Story and sponsor side by side on page one, with the sponsor opening the AI Overview
Neither Newspage nor the sponsor was on page one on 29 October. The day after the sponsored story was published, it was fourth on page one and Mather & Murray Financial was fifth. The AI Overview's opening sentence cited Mather & Murray first, cited Newspage on how lenders treat bonuses and image rights, and named Mather & Murray as a broker to look into.

Four of the AI Overview's six citations were the Newspage story, including the £114-a-year-per-£100,000 figure, credited to Newspage alone. Later that morning the story was cited in the AI Overview and second on page one for "will bank surcharge affect mortgage rates".

From nowhere to third on page one for the main search
Trinity Financial was not on page one on 20 October, when Newspage published a story on private bank mortgages linking to Trinity's page. Nine days later Trinity was third on page one and cited in the AI Overview for its main search.
