Local radio and TV opportunities - BoE rate decision

ended 01. February 2023

A lot of producers are asking Newspage if we've got brokers and/or estate agents to go on the local radio (and potentially TV) tomorrow afternoon/evening to talk about the Bank of England's rate decision - and what it means for borrowers and the property market. If you're available tomorrow from midday onwards, let us know and we'll put you forward. Please let us know if there any TIMES that you couldn't do an interview tomorrow afternoon (e.g. client meeting/viewing, etc) and we'll work around that with our contacts. It could be live or it could be a pre-record, depending on the station/channel.

Suggesting Iain Swatton, Head of Mortgages at Dashly. Iain has over 35 years experience in the mortgage industry and worked for Countrywide and Connells before joining Dashly in 2021. Iain is available from 12pm tomorrow.

On the expected rate rise, Dashly believes that if there is an increase, lenders are not likely to follow suit which is good news for potential mortgage borrowers. The hope is that this will enable transactions to start moving again and give the industry the kick-start it needs.

With over half a million mortgages under management, Dashly is the UKs leading mortgage insight provider, producing forward-looking data. They constantly monitor over half a million mortgage and property data points to spot the latest trends in the market.

As interest rates rise, we of course are seeing challenges within the market as the cost of people’s mortgage payments are in some cases a lot higher than they have been traditionally used to.

“However, due to the demand for homes continuing to outweigh the number of properties available, this is fuelling a more stable market.

“With Banks stress testing people’s finances for many years, arrears and repossessions aren’t drastically increasing and we are therefore seeing a levelling out of the market and a return to more normal levels of housing transactions.”

Nathan is available for interview any time tomorrow apart from between the hour of 12:30pm and 1:30pm.
