Andrew Montlake

Andrew “Monty” Montlake is one of the UK’s best-known mortgage and housing commentators, with more than 30 years’ industry experience. He is CEO and Spokesperson at multi-award-winning broker Coreco, which he co-founded in 2009, and Chairman of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI), representing mortgage advisers across the UK.

Having started in mortgages in 1994, Monty has experienced the credit boom, Global Financial Crisis, near-zero rates, the pandemic property surge, the mini-Budget and the subsequent mortgage shock.

Monty still advises clients and writes mortgage business, combining a strategic view of the market with daily, real-world insight from borrowers, brokers and lenders.

He comments on mortgages, interest rates, housing, affordability, first-time buyers, regulation, lender behaviour, Bank of England policy and the wider economy.

A familiar voice across national media, he has appeared on BBC News, Sky News, ITV, Channel 5, BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live, LBC and the Martin Lewis Money Show, and is regularly quoted in the National press.

Known simply as “Monty”, he explains complex issues in plain English and gives informed opinions, not corporate soundbites.
