Newspage, in association with The Intermediary, is calling for brokers to nominate themselves as the “Best Broker In The Universe 2023”. You will explain why you think you were the best broker not just in your town, county and the UK, but the whole world, Milky Way and entire universe in 2023. We will announce the winner before crimbo in The Intermediary along with a full profile of you and your business (alongside pictures ripped off Google of planets and stuff). So write away. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 12th December. The prize will be a packet of Quavers from Newspage and an iPad (you choose the colour) and second generation pencil, along with some merch from MPowered. Send a TikTok or Insta reel if you can't be bothered to write. Actually, that would be better as it's fun.

Look, in case you haven't already realised, I'm quite a thing around here. I must be, Newapage has asked me if I like Quavers and want to win some, which I do.
Am I the best broker in the universe? Well, I've travelled a fair bit in my time to some places far, far away and can tell you, they don't sell them in a restaurant at the end of the universe. (Douglas Adams can do one), but they do sell them in most outlets across the UK, which is where I work.
Each day I listen intently to what clients are saying, some, really need help, and others just feel I'm worth speaking to to save money. I even speak back to them, advising them what's best to do. For the odd one or two I even submit mortgage or insurance applications, honestly, the things I do!
During my average day, I save multiple people hundreds of pounds each month, sometimes thousands, and for what... to make other people's lives financially better, and more secure. So if that's not far out and cosmic, I'll have to eat Wotsits!

My journey began in late 2022 when Newspage got me on Sky News discussing the then-unstable market conditions. Some say my remarks during the interview led to significant changes in the financial sector, marking the beginning of a new era in UK economic policy. Also, in collaboration with my esteemed fellow brokers Lewis Shaw and Jamie Dimora, we initiated a campaign in 2023 urging lenders to implement a 24-hour notice period for product withdrawals. This initiative ruffled some feathers, but received positive responses from several lenders, demonstrating the strength of the voice of the broker community. Finally, I will also continue to fight to promote the best outcomes for our clients who are at the heart of everything we do and call out any JR Ewing-type shenanigans until I no longer feel like I am in an episode of Dallas.

This all comes down to simple maths. Now, I don't like to blast my own saber—there are plenty of alternate realities where I'm sure other brokers are doing just that—but if pressed, I might have a few reasons why this award, sponsored by MPowered - the space age tech new breed lender, with mortgage offers arriving at lightspeed, deserves to find its way into my collection.
Navigating the mortgage landscape across different dimensions requires a certain adaptability.
