Checkmyfile broker affiliate links

ended 04. February 2025

Newspage was given a Checkmyfile affiliate link by a broker this morning and used it to create an account. Newspage saw Haysto branding the moment the credit score was revealed. CMF have also been challenged by several brokers over the past fortnight and advised them directly that links wouldn’t be shown. We asked brokers for their views, below.

Checkmyfile and Haysto needs to provide a full and transparent explanation for this discrepancy immediately. A simple retraction won't suffice. They need to demonstrate how they will rectify this situation, ensure data protection, and rebuild the trust they've so carelessly damaged. Until then, consumers should be extremely wary of any dealings with them, and brokers should seriously reconsider their association with a company that appears willing to mislead the public.

The situation with CheckMyFile is extremely disappointing, and frankly, it feels disingenuous given previous assurances to brokers. The fact that Haysto branding appears immediately when the credit score is revealed — even when using a broker’s affiliate link — raises serious concerns about transparency and trust. This is particularly troubling given that brokers were told no such branding or links would be shown. I’ve personally tested this with my own affiliate link and found the Haysto partnership not only present but offering the option to upload the credit file directly to them. This undermines the broker-client relationship and creates an unacceptable conflict of interest. We’ll be keeping a close eye on CheckMyFile’s response, but in the meantime, we are actively exploring alternative solutions that align better with broker expectations and protect our clients’ trust.

This resembles an episode of Traitors. After declaring there would be no cross selling, the opposite has been proven. Just 2 clicks and Haysto are available to clients if needed. Sad to see. Brokers need to ensure they build a strong rapport with customers and provide a great service as the market is becoming competitive and a little more cloak and dagger.

Trust is the key ingredient in any relationship, and sadly the team at Checkmyfile have broken this with many brokers. They have blatantly advised numerous brokers that their affiliate links will not refer to HAYSTO in any manner, yet more brokers have checked and it does. There is no other way to put this and it simply comes down to blatant lies from the CMF management team, no doubt due to the commercial relationship they have signed upto with HAYSTO. Unless they do something to correct this, I fear a huge backlash. Do brokers and clients really want to deal with a company that has access to such personal data and yet lies so easily?

In a country where many people feel hoodwinked by our own government, we now have to worry about our providers that we pay a service for, stabbing us in the back. All of my advisors are under instructions to stay clear from Check My File until they can truly declare that they are impartial. I am not concerned that my clients would want to jump ship from our own business that has nearly 500 five star reviews on Google, to a business that has 10% of its reviews at 2 stars and below. This begs the question here to Checkmyfile, what made them choose this organisation with such a big amount of poor reviews? Was it money driven in an industry that should really be following consumer duty and acting in the best interest of the client, if service was the deciding factor, did Checkmyfile ignore the Google reviews?

What Checkmfile are saying, and what is actually happening, are at odds, and that does not build trust from brokers in referring their clients to obtain their credit reports, to be sold against by another brokerage. Many affiliates will stop referring to Checkmyfile, as any referral fee is not worth allowing another brokerage to market to your clients.
