TalkTV media opportunity tomorrow night

ended 03. August 2023

TalkTV's nightly news programme is looking for some experts to interview tomorrow night about interest rates, mortgages, inflation and the cost of living crisis. Clearly it's pegged on the back of the rate decision at midday. You'd need to be at their studios in London Bridge at 10pm and they can provide transport if needed within London. Please reply ASAP if available and make sure your mobile is on your Newspage.

Happy to be at London Bridge tomorrow for 10pm. We are portfolio landlords and have bought several properties over the past few months, with several additional purchases currently in the pipeline. We are therefore in the thick of multiple BTL mortgage applications on a day-in day-out basis. I can provide a landlord's perspective on the story, specifically around what this BoE decision means for small and mid sized landlords across the country, and the consequential implications for tenants through the cost of living crisis.

I regularly present on this topic and would be delighted to assist. I am already in London tomorrow so can be at London Bridge at 10pm. My background includes having worked for RBS, Lloyds Bank, Shawbrook and now the owner of Wharf Financial.

Yes, happy to help.

Location and timing are no problem at all.

I would be up for doing this and have had broadcast media training. Please get in touch on 07544 592603.

The expectation is that the base rate will rise for the 14th successive time. Whilst this will be a blow for homeowners who are already struggling with the rising cost of borrowing, markets have already priced this rise into the cost of fixed mortgage rates, so it is unlikely we will see them change in reaction to this news. Indeed, with inflation now starting to fall, we may now be approaching the top of the BoE Base Rate cycle which may give homeowners some respite going forward.
Whilst the outlook for homeowners and homebuyers is still far from rosy, we have had a few positive signs in the last couple of weeks, with swap rates falling and hopefully having now peaked. It may still be sometime before we get back to any sense of normality.
