ONS jobs data:ONS jobs data: fall in payrolled employment in November may reflect shift to outsourcing
The estimated number of vacancies was 818,000 in the UK in September to November 2024, a decrease of 31,000, or 3.7%, from June to August 2024, according to ONS jobs data published this morning. The data also revealed payrolled employment decreased by 35,000 employees (0.1%) in November 2024 when compared with October 2024. Since the Budget and the incoming increases to employers' NI and the minimum wage next year, accountants, tax experts, outsourcing specialists and business owners have identified a surge in the number of businesses looking to outsource in 2025 to reduce their overheads. One accountant said: “2025 could be the year of outsourcing as businesses grapple with increased NI and wage costs.” Meanwhile, one business owner said: “Outsourcing has evolved from a cost-cutting tactic into a strategic necessity for business survival.” Their views are below.
