News Desk: the new benefit of Premium membership

ended 14. January 2024

Happy Friday all. Just a quick alert to say we’ve introduced a new benefit to our Premium membership for brokers: alongside the ability to respond to unlimited News Alerts, having your responses edited and appearing higher up the News Alert, you get to join our influential and agenda-setting Mortgage News Desk.

The Mortgage News Desk (currently a WhatsApp group but soon to be shifted onto our mobile app) already has over 50 brokers who, in between the incessant gags, rants and intel-sharing, discuss story ideas and get access to News Alerts the moment they are created.

Brokers on the News Desk also have the ability to create News Alerts themselves, which effectively means they can directly shape the news.

So if you think you have a story the media need to write about, create a News Alert on it, send it to our database of brokers and we’ll issue it to the media. You even get to pin your own comment to the top. Get in!

If you’d like to join the Mortgage News Desk, sign up to Premium if you’re not already and reply ‘Huzza!” to this alert. If you’re already Premium, just reply “Huzza!”.

We’ll then email you the link and wallop, you’re in. We’ll be holding a number of sessions next week where we talk you through the News Alert creation process.

In the meantime, have a great weekend. Oh, and here are a few brokers sharing their views on the group.

  • Gary Bush, Mortgageshop.com: “Please don't join, as the more members the less national media coverage I will get”.
  • Darryl Dhoffer, The Mortgage Expert: “I’m the best broker in the entire universe and spend hours on the News Desk. It’s the place to be.”
  • Katy Eatenton, Lifetime Wealth Management: “Riz Malik does the polls, Rohit Kohli wears a green jumper and Darryl Dhoffer is a bot”.

Gather round, ya pigeons, lend us your flappers. Newspage is where it's at! It makes the Beano look like a tax return. Newspage is for the sharpies, the chin-strokers, the ones who want to know what's going on in this madhouse of a world. Stories are juicy, packed with flavour, all served up with a cheeky grin and a side of common sense. Contributors include the wise old codgers who remember the Queen's corgi coronation, and the young whippersnappers with comments sharper than a butcher's blade. So if you want a megaphone bigger than Big Ben, don't delay joining the Newspage News desk.
