It's utter carnage out there right now. The wheels are coming off the mortgage market. Lenders are still withdrawing products, leaving brokers unsure when they will actually open again. We currently have 22 lenders who have stopped lending completely, and this list is only getting longer. Without mortgages, the property market could go pop.

Email from HSBC at 11.24am saying all products are withdrawn today with immediate effect new products to be launched tomorrow (all increasing) Rate guide isn't available until tomorrow.

HSBC and Barclays are both doing limiting lending each day. Once their "quota" for the day is gone, then you can't submit anymore new applications until tomorrow.

So many lenders have totally withdrawn all buy to let products, I have never seen anything like this. I researched for a mortgage last week and had 380 products available which reduced to 140 today. I am hoping this is going to be a very short-term measure (a few days!) But there is no way to know. 3 of our top 5 most used btl lenders have withdrawn all fixed products too.
