Andrew Montlake

A Finance professional with over 25 years of industry experience, Andrew started in the mortgage industry in 1994. He is one of only two people to ever have won the coveted Mortgage Personality of the Year Award at the Mortgage Strategy Awards twice.

In 2009 Andrew was a founder of Coreco, responsible for growing the brand, marketing and communications, as well as lender liaison. He was made MD in 2019, and is now CEO, focussing on the overall vision, strategy, and culture of the company.

As Coreco’s media spokesperson Andrew can often be seen or heard on TV and radio as well as regularly commenting in the national, local and trade press. 

He has appeared on BBC TV News, Working Lunch, BBC Radio 5 Live, Wake Up to Money, Drivetime, BBC Radio 4 Moneybox, Today Programme, Sky News, ITN News, Channel 5 News, LBC Radio Property Hour and is a regular on Clive Bulls show and Property Radio.

He also regularly comments for BBC News online, The Times & Sunday Times, Financial Times, Daily Mail, This is Money, Evening Standard, The Express, The Telegraph and more.

More commonly known as "Monty" he is the author of a highly acclaimed Mortgage Blog, produced the first mortgage industry podcasts several years ago and now presents The Property Show podcast with Louisa Fletcher. 

He is a public speaker, presenter, and regular industry columnist who is passionate about financial literacy, mental health and diversity and inclusion.

Winner of several industry awards including “Broker Business Leader of the Year (up to 40 advisers), “Mortgage Strategist of the Year” as well as winning “Mortgage Personality of the Year” twice. He is also a double recipient of the "Best Press Spokesperson" and “Best Marketeer” gongs at the British Mortgage Awards.

Under his stewardship Coreco also won the award for Best Equality Employer at the 2019 Women in Finance Awards.

Andrew is now proud to serve as Chairman of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries, (AMI) as a cheerleader for the Mortgage Industry as a whole and continues to work at the coal face, writing mortgage business and advising clients.

In his spare time, he writes and performs with his rock band Rogue Monkey!

I'm very happy to come onto the podcast. Prior to property I have over 15 years former experience as Mental Health Nurse Specialist and Trauma therapist as well as a debt specialist.  I have a great deal of experience in dealing with staff welfare and was the former Chair of Personnel, Staff Development and Training at Lancashire Police Authority.  I'm fairly rare in the mortgage industry as far as broad expertise, as well as lived experience, goes. Oh and I take care of the distressed debt desk at Finanze. Passionate mental health advocate. Alastair is a seasoned finance professional and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in creating and growing successful businesses across various sectors. He is also a member of the Board of Advisors for Soulful Minds CIC an organization that supports people in mental health and financial distress. Alastair holds a BSc (Hons) in Management & Strategy from Aston University, CeMAP & CPSP from The London Institute of Banking & Finance. He speaks English, Italian, and French fluently.
