ITV NEWS INTERVIEW REQUEST - NEXT TUESDAY

Journalist: Mariah Hedges, ITV National News - ITN

ended 12. December 2022

Hi all

Next Tuesday the latest labour market stats are out and we are looking to speak to a business who is struggling to recruit employees.

This would be a pre recorded interview to be filmed on Tuesday and will air on Tuesday on our evening news and news at ten bulletins.

I am also looking to speak to someone on Thursday who will be impacted by a further rise in interest rates. The Bank of England is due to announce another rise next Thursday. I am looking to speak to someone whose mortgage payments will go up. Can you afford this? Will it impact your business?

Many thanks

Mariah

Hi Mariah. I'd be happy to give comments and can speak on Thursday. I own a recruitment agency in London and Manchester. We've grown our team from three to thirteen in a year, and we're struggling to recruit experienced consultants. I can also add value from my clients' perspectives, who are also struggling to recruit. My email is lily@lilyshippen.co.uk.

I have various clients at the moment particularly retail and admin that are struggling to recruit. Either we don't get many applications or the ones we do get don't have the right behaviours for the role. We try to encourage our clients to look at behaviours as well as skill as it is easy to teach skill but you can't teach behaviours.

I am happy to speak to you to discuss in general how our clients will be impacted, I haven't got a client who would be willing to talk as a case study. Would that be ok? I forgot to add, my email is ashley@magnifinance.co.uk

We have recently expanded our team to bring in an immigration specialist solicitor due to a stream of requests from our clients regarding sponsorship licence support. A number of businesses that have never employed overseas workers are now looking to this as a way to bridge a skills and labour shortage. By the Government's own data there has been a 332% increase in visa applications and a 31% increase in sponsors (General category) YTD 2021 to March 2022. From what we are seeing that trend is set to continue.
