Kate Underwood

Kate Underwood is the founder of Kate Underwood HR & Training, a CIPD-qualified HR consultant and a news reporter for Newspage.media. She is a member of the Press Association and is regularly quoted on employment law, workplace rights and small business HR in the national, regional and trade press.

Kate spent the early part of her career with big names in retail and automotive. For more than ten years she has worked as an on-demand HR director for small and growing businesses. She now supports over 100 firms across Hampshire, the New Forest, Dorset, Surrey, London and the wider UK from her base in Southampton.

She sees every story from both sides. She is a small business owner herself, and she spends her days with employers and their people. Her commentary covers the Employment Rights Act, redundancy, pay, flexible working, AI at work and the real cost of employing people.

Kate is a self-confessed HR tech geek who helps firms cut admin and build simple processes that actually get used. She also hosts the Buzzing About HR podcast.
