How can investors take advantage of post-pandemic recovery?

ended 16. February 2022

A journalist at the i newspaper is writing a piece on how investors can take advantage of the post pandemic recovery. It will look at how to find the best post-pandemic recovery stocks to put in your ISA. He is specifically looking for views from fund and wealth managers on the post pandemic sectors/stocks that most interest them and why? Is it worth focusing on recovery stocks or are there other themes that ISA investors should focus on?

As ever, no need for an essay. Just a paragraph or two will do. If you're a Premium user, your response will be edited by a seasoned hack.

I am generally quite cautious about investing in narrow themes as this approach can often catch people out. However, there does seem to be a 'rotation to value' with previously unloved value stocks coming back into favour. This 'rotation to value' could have further to run, but as always, investors need to bear in mind that things don't always go accordingly to plan. if investors are looking for funds that may benefit from this theme they should consider funds like SARACEN GLOBAL INCOME & GROWTH FUND or SVM UK Opportunities fund.

Right now, we have seen a rotation from growth stocks to value stocks (think Apple for growth an BP for value). Many people argue that value is long overdue out-performance vs growth and we are definitely seeing that at the moment; so for right now, previously out of favour things like oil and gas and commodities are good homes for cash that is available to invest. The FTSE 100 would be a prime example of a value index that could be tracked. This does not constitute a recommendation.

"As a long term investor, the best solution is to invest in a well diversified global equity portfolio. The easiest way to do this is to purchase 'funds' in your ISA which will do all the hard work for you."
