There is a huge elephant in the UK, called the "advice gap". This is a term for the people who are not getting financial advice in the UK for whatever reason. Open Money suggests that an estimated 6 million people in Britain (roughly the combined population of Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield) want advice but think it costs too much.&nbsp; This is where proper financial coaching can help bridge this gap. You pay a subscription or hourly rate, which is way cheaper than the usual method of a percentage being charged. For example, if you wanted advice on a £50,000 lump sum, the costs are likely to be £1500 upfront and £500 a year. Across a 10 year period this means £6,500 in fees. With a regulated financial coach, this could cost typically £3,000 over the same period. We need more coaches to service the British people which is why I chose to qualify as a Certified Financial Coach, to sit alongside my Chartered Wealth Manager and Certified Financial planner qualifications. Vanguard points to the benefits of taking financial advice adding up to around 3% net returns to investments. That advice, if you find the right people, can be accessed much more cheaply than people think as long as they find the right people to work with. Please look out for the Certified Financial Coach designations to make sure its not just an ordinary coach you are working with. Make sure you are paying experts and talk through people's expertise in the fee consultation calls they should offer you.
