Checkmyfile update

ended 17. June 2026

After their processes were criticised by a number of Newspage brokers, CheckMyFile appears to have listened. You'll likely have received the news on email but screengrab attached. What are your thoughts? Is this what you wanted to see? Is it good that CML have listened to the mortgage community?

Very positive move from Checkmyfile, listening to feedback and making changes that will be well received by their financial services partners. Coupled with the roll-out of the co-branded portal/landing pages, this really enhances the partnerships. Bravo Checkmyfile.

This is very welcome news. Checkmyfile is a key tool for brokers, helping us gather accurate information from the outset and giving clients the best chance of a smooth mortgage journey. Removing unnecessary hurdles helps borrowers reach their goals faster, without being pushed towards alternative credit reporting providers. It's great to see Checkmyfile listening and responding to feedback from the mortgage community.

A great example of listening to feedback and acting on it. I'm happy with these changes and they show that CheckMyFile aren't just blowing hot air. They have a good platform themselves and shouldn't abuse it and appear to be committed to the cause.

A welcome move from CMF. Whilst the temptation to position products makes business sense, at the end of the day if you're cannibalising your business partnerships it's always going to leave a sour taste. CMF reports are second to none in terms of quality but there are always challengers, and the market moves fast so companies must be nimble enough and to admit when they got it wrong.

Good decision by CheckMyFile. If a feature causes more friction than value, it doesn’t matter how well-intentioned it was. The mortgage journey should help borrowers move forward, not create additional hurdles. Fair play for listening, acting quickly and reversing course.
