A poll carried out on LinkedIn, seen by over 3,700 users on the social media site, shows that 82% of people on the platform see Yorkshire puddings as a vital element of their traditional Christmas dinner. The vote carried out by Richard Michie, CEO of Leeds-based <a href="https://www.marketingoptimist.co.uk/">The Marketing Optimist</a>, brought out some very strong opinions. Richard said, “I’m proud to be from Yorkshire and proud of my puddings, but I really didn’t expect such an outpouring from what was just a fun idea close to the Christmas break.” “There have been some very tongue-in-cheek comments on the poll. Including some suggestions that people who don’t want Yorkshire puddings on Christmas dinner should be banished from civil society! Which does seem harsh.” Votes in favour weren’t restricted to just the north either. Responses came from right across the UK including London and the southeast places not as readily associated with the delicacy. Results of a previous poll run by <a href="https://www.next.co.uk/edited/homeware/christmas-dinner-debate">clothing retailer Next</a> showed that only 19% of people thought Yorkshire Pudding was an essential festive dinner item, so this survey flies in the face of those findings. “People on LinkedIn don’t normally engage in polls they feel are better suited to Facebook, so these results are surprising, perhaps it's the time of year when they’re all thinking of the Christmas holidays rather than work?” Concluded Richard. The poll was carried out on LinkedIn on 22 December 2022 with 200 votes in total. The post has been seen by 3,754 people on the professional social media platform.
