<h4>Bristol-based creative agency, <a href="https://somethingfamiliar.co.uk">Something Familiar</a>, is celebrating B Corp Month by highlighting over 160 local B Corps in a new animation projected onto the side of the Tobacco Factory, where it is based.</h4>The event is part of B Corp Month, which, each March, celebrates and promotes B Corporations across the UK. The theme for 2024 is ‘This Way Forward’, something which Bristol businesses are embracing in large numbers, with the number of B Corps nearly doubling in the last year. Something Familiar, itself a B Corp, has organised the event including creating a 30-minute animation that shows the impact B Corporations can have. It also features the logos of most of the Bristol-area B Corps from a wide range of industries, demonstrating that any business can make the choice to work sustainably and ethically, while still operating successfully. The event kicks off on 27 March at 6.30pm at the Tobacco Factory with four speakers from a range of local B Corp businesses who will share their experience of being a B Corp and their future plans. The event is open to B Corps and ‘wanna Be Corps’ with the aim to prompt the local community to explore the B Corps that are all around them. Something Familiar, the agency behind the animation and projection, became a B Corp in 2022, having started the journey in early 2021. To become a Certified B Corporation, companies need to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, legal accountability and transparency. To be certified, a company must measure and improve its impact on its workers, customers, community, and the environment. B Corps change their legal articles to consider the impact of their decisions on people and the planet alongside profit. Something Familar saw the Tobacco Factory as the perfect backdrop for the projection, as it champions independent businesses and is committed to reducing its impact on the environment through solar energy and using ingredients grown on its own farm for example. With the iconic building’s walls having been home to a giant mural of environmental activist Greta Thunberg in recent years, the animation is sure to be a new head turner, which again promotes positive transformation in Bristol and beyond. Out goal is to show other local businesses know that working in a more considered, conscience-driven way isn’t some kind of commercial compromise. By projecting the B Corp animation and the logos of other local B Corps onto the Tobacco Factory, we’re celebrating a better way of working, and showing how many businesses there are in Bristol who are doing it successfully. We’re inviting other businesses to begin their own journey. We also wanted to let our local community know that there are plenty of Bristol-based businesses who are focused on working sustainably and doing the right thing, and to encourage them to support them. The B Corp movement is something the world desperately needs right now, and we’re happy to be supporting it right here at home in Bristol.”
