We’re seeing a growing trend towards smaller, boutique weddings where couples choose beautiful holiday homes as their venues. These settings offer a more personal, relaxed atmosphere without the inflated “wedding venue” price tag, making them an appealing alternative. The challenge often lies in guest numbers; when day guests exceed the home’s capacity, homeowner permissions and insurance become key considerations. Many owners are understandably cautious, as standard holiday let insurance rarely covers events of that scale. Overall, it reflects a wider shift towards intimate, experience-led celebrations rather than large-scale affairs.

Weddings 2025: Speed and Smart Tech Drive Bookings

By Mark Kirby, Founder - GoEngage & VenueBot

The UK wedding industry is thriving again, but today’s couples expect instant replies, clear pricing, and effortless communication. Over 68% of venue enquiries happen outside office hours, yet many venues still respond too late - losing leads fast.

The most successful venues now use AI and automation to engage instantly, send brochures, answer FAQs, and book tours automatically. It’s not replacing human service - it’s enhancing it. By replying within seconds, some venues have doubled enquiry-to-tour conversions.

Couples are arriving “decision-ready,” wanting honest information and emotional connection. Venues that combine speed, storytelling, and smart technology are the ones turning more enquiries into love stories.

We’re seeing a strong shift toward sustainable weddings - couples wanting celebrations that are both meaningful and eco-conscious.

Our AI sustainable party planner helps users design beautiful, sustainable weddings with minimal waste. One standout trend from this is the rise of “low-impact luxury” i.e. stylish, high-quality experiences that don’t cost the earth.
Customers tell us they are prioritising plastic-free swaps, supporting small business, and reducing their carbon footprint.

The wedding industry overall feels vibrant and innovative, with tech and sustainability now at its heart. Couples are embracing creativity and conscious choices, showing that love and the planet can be celebrated together, reducing the 5 million kilograms of plastic waste that weddings in the UK throw away each year.

We are seeing either luxury or shoestring budgets but very little in between. A luxury venue told me just yesterday that 60% of her clients for next year are US based couples getting married in the UK. Where have all the English weddings gone?
