The Times request - Help to Buy customers forced to sell at a loss
Request from George Nixon, Senior Money editor at The Times:
"A couple of years ago I wrote a big piece about the legacy of Help to Buy, including a huge number of properties that lost money.
"Last week Hamptons dug out an FOI from Homes England (no idea who from as it doesn’t appear to have been published anywhere) that showed a growing % of flats in particular have been sold at a loss - 45% in 24-25. It’s the opposite of what you’d expect over time.
“I’m on the hunt to speak to brokers about their experiences with Help to Buy flats -
- Have you come across ex-HTBs languishing on the market that have had big price reductions?
- Do they have clients who’ve previously bought them and seen themselves lose a lot of money on them?
- Any other opinions on Help to Buy?
Deadline ASAP please.
