Ski season – which are the best resorts?

We are deep into ski season, but which are the best resorts?

Please comment with the best one in your opinion. Please provide some detail on why, is it similar to a more popular/famous resort? Is it cheaper? Give some examples as to its unique selling points. Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc is stunning and great for first timers.

It’s a short transfer from Geneva, and yet feels quite remote.

Stunning scenery, lots of snow late into the season. Italian food and friendly locals.

Having worked in many, and stayed in most of the resorts in Europe. I'm always drawn back to ‘the three valleys’ skiing domain. It offers something for everyone and can be done relatively cheaply if you know where to go. My favourite resort is La Tania, it’s a relatively small resort that was designed and built ahead of the Olympics in 92. Since then it hasn’t seen major development aside from a load of pretty chalets. The centre of the resort is really well thought out and very ‘winter wonderland’ with no road running through the centre. There’s a few great bars too, I find it is a very British resort so very easy. Accommodation in the large apartment complexes around the resort is often cheap with perfect access to the piste.
It's in the next valley from Courchevel so you’re only a few runs away from the glitz and glamour that Courchevel has to offer, only spending much less to be there. Likewise, you can go to the valley to the right and easily get to Val Thorens and back in a day.
