This looks like a big change, but a yearly increase of 10% is not far off the norm for London rents. London is a beast of its own when it comes to property and rent prices. Wages definitely do not keep up with the constant growth, and soon the divide will get even bigger. Renters on average or lower-than-average wages should seriously consider whether they can work somewhere else where rents are more affordable. The rental market in East London is simply reflecting the high demand and limited supply, driving prices up and making it tough for many to keep up.
