Newspage enters sports journalism

ended 08. October 2025

We're excited to share that we're adding a new subscription for the sports fans out there: Newspage Sports.

With the number of sports correspondents reducing by the day, fewer and fewer sports events are being covered. So Newspage will now be empowering fans to become writers through a new form of fan-powered journalism.

We’ll be starting with major sports events and, over time, drill down into less mainstream and hyper-local sport events.

We’ll be creating alerts for selected football and rugby matches this weekend, starting with Chelsea v Liverpool on Saturday and Bath Rugby v Sale Sharks on Friday night.

We already have a national newspaper website ready to take a football round-up from Newspage fans on Monday morning — and you could be in it.

As your comments or video responses come in during matches, whether from your front room or straight from the stands, we’ll feed them into the relevant sport live blogs - subject to the language being decent!

And after the matches, once the alerts are closed, we’ll storify your responses and send the articles to relevant local and national news media to run.

We’ll be rolling out our Newspage Sports subscription to the wider public later in October but are offering existing Newspagers the chance to lock in now for just £2.99 a month.

Our first alert on Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim — specifically whether he should go and who should replace him — will be with you this evening. We’ll be looking to get that published tomorrow.

If you’d like to comment on that, create a Newspage Sports subscription >> here << and add ‘Football’ and/or ‘Manchester United’ as a tag on your Newspage. You'll then get the alert. As ever, you can cancel anytime.

If you’d like us to cover any sports that aren’t on Newspage already, please respond to this News Alert and we’ll add them to the platform. We’ll be adding thousands of clubs in the days ahead so don’t worry if your club’s not there for now.
