It is easy to see why universities are struggling. With the increasing long term cost of obtaining a degree, and facing interest rates over 6% while still in a job barely above minimum wage will make many decide against enrolling. The idea was originally to spread the cost of going to university over your working life, with low interest rates just in line with inflation and the principle that a degree will help you secure a higher paying job. Now, there is no truth in any of those ideals and unless training to be a doctor or a lawyer, going to university doesnt make financial sense.
