Awareness campaigns play a crucial role in ensuring those most in need understand their options and how to access support. The DWP should maintain this momentum, as ongoing awareness is essential particularly during the current cost of living crisis.

A surge in Pension Credit applications is a win, but it highlights a deeper issue—too many pensioners are still missing out on vital support. The DWP’s campaign and a streamlined 16-minute claim process have helped, but awareness remains key. With the State Pension set for a major boost, ensuring every eligible pensioner actually claims what they’re entitled to must be the next priority. Financial security in later life shouldn’t depend on a headline—it should be a given.
