MoneyWeek article: 2027 tax changes to prepare for now

Hi

I am writing an article for MoneyWeek looking at tax chance that are coming in 2027 that people should prepare for now.

This includes things like the pension IHT stuff and reduced cash ISA allowances.

I am keen for comments on how to prepare for these changes now and any other tax changes from the next tax year that it is already worth getting ready for?

Many thanks

Marc

The next wave of tax changes risks catching many people off guard, particularly around pensions and ISAs.

If pensions lose some of their inheritance tax advantages, people should not assume current rules will persist. It’s a good time to review beneficiary nominations, check how pensions fit within wider estate plans, and think about the order of drawdown in retirement, rather than relying on pensions as the main way to pass on wealth.

If cash ISA allowances are reduced, using current allowances while they remain available becomes more important. Savers should also reassess whether cash ISAs are still suitable for longer-term money, or whether a mix with stocks and shares ISAs offers better flexibility.

Overall, the key is to review plans now rather than react later, checking balances across pensions, ISAs and taxable accounts, and making full use of allowances while they last.
