Lenders sneaking in big rate rises/changes? 

I have not seen any lenders announce any rate changes today or even aim to sneak any through but I do expect once the bank holiday has finished from 9am tomorrow the flurry of announcements to start but some lenders may hold off until the Bank of England's announcement around the base rate.

With most lenders respectfully closed the Bank Holiday Monday has been eerily quiet in terms of interest rates rises. However, with the expectation that the Bank of England could up interest rates by as much as 0.75% on Friday the latter part of the week is sure to see some base rate hikes. With much of the population already stretched due to increased commodity, energy and fuel prices, how a 0.75% rise will be received is anyone's guess.
