Financially driven mental health issues are rapidly becoming the new norm for so many people and unfortunately the NHS is simply not in a position to meet the growing need. So, who should pick up the tab on getting help? There is a clear link between levels of wellbeing and productivity so it would make sense for employers to be investing in more mental health training and providing targeted support that address the underlying financial health needs of their people. Ignoring this problem won't make it go away.

Now more than ever it is key to remember that children's wellbeing starts with the adult in the room. The cost of living crisis is having an impact on the mental health of entire families and all of the professionals that children come into contact with, such as teachers. It is adding pressure to the mass teacher exodus and increased absence in the workplace, meaning even longer waits for key services that this generation of children so desperately need. Intervention must happen now and must be a whole community approach to safeguard the future for our children and their children to come.

As a woman in her 30s, the shame of having to go to my parents and ask for a handout is profound. I never thought I would find myself in the position where I am on my knees crying because I don’t know how to afford to pay my bills or heat our home. I’m fortunate enough to be in a position to ask for help but it makes me feel like a failure and that is a daily struggle. I feel stuck and some days completely hopeless. This is my worst of year trading to date.
