The UK Government's Restart Scheme is a key component of their “Plan for Jobs” that came out of the pandemic. It's designed to help jobseekers who have been unemployed for at least 12 months, by providing intensive support to enhance their skills and employability. The scheme aimed to boost employment and support those facing long-term unemployment.
Statistics released today show that 530,000 people have started on the scheme since its inception with 190,000 achieving earnings from employment since starting the scheme, as well as 116,000 have subsequently achieved a permanent job outcome.
We are asking if you, or any of your clients, have been involved with the Restart scheme? Or the sister Kickstart scheme which was aimed at young people and ran between Oct 2020 and Mar 2022? What has your experience been? Is it a scheme you would want to see continue for the long term?
