Calling all financial advisers for your FCA wishlist!

Journalist: Sonia Rach

ended 05. January 2026

Dear Newspagers

FT Adviser recently ran a story where the Financial Conduct Authority outlined what its priorities will be for 2026 with a focus on digitalising financial services, setting up targeted support and fighting scams.

The City watchdog said this year it took action to help consumers, consulting on rules for the future regulation of buy now, pay later.

It also took measures encouraging vulnerable customers to ‘open up’ about their needs to their financial firms, after research showed that doing so leads to better experiences.

I wondered what advisers have on their wishlist from the FCA this year and what they would like/hope to see?

Please do let me know!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi Sonia,

I'd like to see UK consumers offered free, impartial access to be able to find a financial adviser near them. The MoneyHelper directory closed down in December and I voluntarily host a searchable database of all FCA regulated advice firms. This operates independently and receives no incentives or commissions from adviser firms. If we really want to promote access to financial advice then the starting point is being able to find an adviser and not need to give up your personal details to do so!: Here is the website: https://localfinancialadviser.com/

Please feel free to reach out. I am aiming to make financial guidance available to all to help close the advice gap in the UK.
