Brokers: are you wary of vanilla?

ended 18. August 2025

Keen to know if you, as brokers, are wary of being reliant on vanilla mortgages, as they are arguably the most vulnerable to AI and tech/automation? If so, what's your POA? Becoming an IFA, starting to focus more on specialist or commercial? If you don't feel threatened, tell us why, too. Any thoughts on how the industry could look by 2030, send them across, too.

The main benefits we provide are knowledge and convenience. There will always be people who want to do things themselves and good luck to them. AI/automation may help some people but equally it could provide a fertile ground for people who quickly realise that what they thought was vanilla is more complicated than they thought. Equally there will be people who don't want to spend the pressure or the time and choose a broker for service. The market is always evolving and adapting.
