Benefits

Hello Newspagers,

I am looking for benefit experts to provide some advice to Daily Star readers on the best practises on applying for the Winter Fuel Payment. There is a lot of confusion about the payment due to the Labour Government's chopping and changing of the policy.

With the benefit reinstated for 9 million pensioners this winter, there will be many thinking of how best to apply.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Dan Grennan

There is a lot of confusion, but it should be pretty simple. If you earn less than £35,000 and you’re over 65 you will get your winter fuel payment automatically. You will get either £100, £200 or £300 depending on if you’re over 75 and if you live alone. If you earn over £35,000 HMRC will change your tax code to claw the benefit back.
