<h4>While private dental patients in Belfast are saying ooooh, with the fees charged 28% below the national average, those in Bristol are saying arrgh, with prices a whopping 25% above the average, even higher than London (23% above the average), according to new research published by private health insurance and healthcare consumer information website, <a href="https://www.mytribeinsurance.co.uk">myTribe Insurance</a>.</h4>With the well-reported reduction in the number of NHS dentists and people finding it increasingly hard to find one and at times even taking drastic measures by turning to services such as NHS 111 and A&amp;E for help, the experts at myTribe Insurance decided that they'd help answer a question more and more people are asking: "How much does private dentistry cost?" During the summer, myTribe's researchers obtained pricing from 400 dental practices in 20 major towns and cities across the UK to build a comprehensive picture of what it costs and where. It highlights how shopping around, and sometimes even travelling, is worthwhile to get the best price for your dental treatment. By way of example, and subject to the treatment involved, residents of Bristol may want to consider nipping up the M5 to Birmingham. When choosing a dentist, make sure you compare their treatment prices not just for the initial consultation but for things like extractions, fillings and root canals, as it's those prices where there are typically the biggest savings to be had.”Methodology For each of the 20 towns and cities sampled, pricing for six treatments at ten dental practices was obtained. A median price for each treatment in each city was calculated. The median for each treatment for each city was then added to create a total cost of private dentistry for each location. This was then compared against the national average.
