From £30k worth of stock disappearing into thin air in transit with UPS, finding it on Ebay a year later, a criminal investigation and having to buy it back, to sofa-surfing in an attempt to keep the business going.&nbsp;This is the most shocking story, and every business owners worst nightmare.&nbsp;£30k worth of stock was lost in transit shortly before I launched my small business, Lenny London - a luxury sustainable activewear brand. With the photoshoot and launch event scheduled, this was a huge, and unexpected setback.UPS opened the boxes to check the goods inside and failed to handle them with care. The boxes were ripped apart, damaging the goods inside, repacked in cardboard and cellotaped together - not the original sturdy boxes they'd be shipped in.&nbsp; There were holes in the packaging, items missing and other companies' products mixed in. It was heartbreaking to see the boxes arrive in such a state, but the most sickening part is that a number of the boxes did not arrive at all - UPS lost them in transit.&nbsp;A claim requesting a full refund was submitted to UPS, expecting the case to be investigated within 15 days (as per their website), however, to my horror, 10 months later I was still chasing them tirelessly.&nbsp;The claim was approved, however, yet again I was chasing for payment several months later! Each time I contacted UPS I was told different information and directed to different teams (globally). After not attempting to make any form of payment, UPS then closed the case and refused to pay out.&nbsp;The goods were then discovered on Ebay and a police investigation was conducted for theft and fraud - UPS had sold the contents of the boxes to an Auction House, profiting from my small business!I was already sofa-surfing in an attempt to keep my business going having used all my life savings to start this business, and I didn't have stock to sell. I had to borrow money from family to buy back my goods being sold on Ebay, and now in debt, with nowhere to live.I experienced severe health issues due to immense stress - depression, anxiety and chronic fatigue. I was bed-bound for months and unable to work. I lost everything - my business, home and health!
