Jennie Prewett is the founder of Incredible Kids.  Incredible Kids was born when more than 400 children with disabilities lost their much-needed specialist play area in 2012. Families were devastated that their children’s access to a safe play and support facility had been cut. Our founder Jennie had the simple idea of providing a safe place to play. A group of parents came together and overnight formed a grass roots, family led support circle, reaching out to other families in need. Today, Incredible Kids is managed by a group of dedicated parents, including our founder who work collaboratively with over 2000 children, young people and families.

Incredible Kids Charity, a local organisation committed to supporting families with disabled children, embarked on an impactful project last weekend. In the spirit of community and care, they distributed 70 specially crafted Incredible Care Kits to families facing unique challenges. These heartwarming care kits, designed by volunteer parent-carers, aim to provide comfort and joy during times of great pressure. Dedicated volunteers at Incredible Kids, spent an evening assembling these thoughtful kits before handing them out to families. The Incredible Care Kits included essentials such as hot water bottles for warmth and soft blankets for snug moments, chocolates and treats, adding an extra touch of joy to the packages. What makes these care kits truly special is the collaborative effort of the Incredible Kids community. Families who visit the charity actively participated in choosing the contents of the kits, tailoring them to the specific needs and preferences of each family. The project was made possible through the generous funding from Nespresso UK at Cribbs Causeway, who supported the initiative, recognizing the importance of bringing comfort to families in challenging circumstances. Further support was received from esteemed partners, John Lewis &amp; Partners and LUSH, who added extra treats to the care kits. Incredible Kids Charity expresses profound gratitude to all supporters and volunteers who contributed to making the Incredible Care Kits a reality. The well-being bags are packed with useful items like blankets, hot water bottles, and little treats. These bags are designed to help families facing a cost of living challenge as well as bring a smile to their faces. Disabled children and their families face many challenges on a daily basis. In addition to the emotional and physical toll of caring for a child with a disability, there is often a significant financial cost as well. Therapy, medications, and special equipment can add up quickly, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet. That's where Incredible Kids comes in. By giving out well-being bags to families, the charity is helping to alleviate some of the financial stress. These bags are filled with everyday items that can help make life a little bit easier for families. The well-being bags also serve as a reminder to families that they are not alone. Caring for a disabled child can be an isolating experience, with many families feeling like they are the only ones facing these challenges.&nbsp; For families like Jo who has a son with additional needs, the well-being bags have been a great source of comfort. " Oh my goodness, we had such a lovely day! “ said Jo. ”The best bubbles and face painting ever and well-being bags at the end. My son loved the blanket and the microwavable fluffy dog” The charity behind the well-being bags was set up by parents and is run by volunteers. The charity received a grant from Bristol City Council through Quartet Community Foundation to help provide additional support and resources to families. Waiting two or three years for an autism assessment for a child in Bristol has become the norm in recent years. Now new criteria mean that most children will now be completely unable to even join that waiting list.&nbsp; If you live in Bristol, South Glos or North Somerset and you think your child is autistic and needs an assessment&nbsp; they now need to meet a new list of criteria. These include being in an education placement at risk of breaking down, in a family at risk of breaking down, in care or under child protection, having severe mental health problems and under CAMHS, involved with youth offending services or being unable to communicate.
