Gourds like a long growing season to set &amp; grow their shells. Thus, a scarcity of future gourds for our planet-friendly exciting lighting! Sustainability in the gourd art world is very weather dependant. Sorry? What was that? What's a gourd? Yes, of course, little known in the UK, but widely used in hot countries for centuries as bowls, drinking vessels &amp; now art. Grown for their shells when matured &amp; dried, gourds are a member of the pumpkin &amp; squash family. Technically a fruit but known as a vegetable. We grow ours in a polytunnel &amp; can take nearly 2 years from seed to finished piece.
