Founder Sue from East Ruston, launched her award winning, dog friendly cottage company in 2008 after years of holidaying with her own dogs and finding that dog friendly didn’t mean dog welcoming, with lots of rules about what the dogs couldn’t do, she found she wasn’t able to relax. Sue wanted to create a home away from home for dogs and their humans, somewhere people could relax knowing that the dogs were welcome on the sofas and beds, and had secure gardens and a large selection of extras to make sure the dogs were well catered for.

On average, East Ruston Cottages hosts around 250 dogs per month over 40 cottages – ranging from cosy lodges to large family homes – the highest number of dogs in one booking was 19. Sue is passionate about championing just how dog friendly Norfolk is and frequently collaborates with local Norfolk Businesses and has also raised thousands of pounds for dog charities by donating a percentage of all the cottage bookings.

A recent collaboration with Medical Detection Dogs at Crufts was a huge success in supporting at dog themed, life saving charity.
