Dorset-based, Teddy Rocks Festival, has been named the nation’s Best Family Festival at the UK Festival Awards. Teddy Rocks, which will be celebrating its tenth festival in April, is a three-day, 5,000-capacity festival that is run entirely by volunteers and donates 100 per cent of its profits to charities that provide support to children with cancer. Organisers of the festival attended the award ceremony which was held at Escape to Freight Island in Manchester on 6 December 2022. Now in its 17th year, the UK Festival Awards recognises and celebrates the collective accomplishments of the industry’s organisers and suppliers. The UK’s Best Family Festival Award was voted for by fans online earlier this year with nominees announced in November.&nbsp; Teddy Rocks was created by Tom Newton in 2011, after he lost his 10-year-old brother Ted Newton, to a rare form of bone cancer. Tom, who has been in touring bands all his life, started the festival to raise money for the charity run by his parents, Teddy20, that provides financial and emotional support to children with cancer in the Wessex region.&nbsp; The first festival was held at The Greyhound Pub in Blandford, before it was moved to Charisworth Farm, also in Blandford, due to its increasing size and popularity. This year, the festival will have five stages and take place over three days, from 28 – 30 April. As well as a variety of music, families can enjoy funfair rides, shops and stalls, five-star rated vendors and plenty of free activities for young children. -Ends-&nbsp; NOTES TO EDITORS About Teddy Rocks Teddy Rocks Festival started with a small gig in 2011 to raise money for Teddy20, a children's cancer charity founded by Tom Newton and his family after he lost his 10-year-old brother Ted to a very rare bone cancer. The gig was put on by Tom's friends and family in the restaurant of The Greyhound pub in Blandford and raised £400. This was used to fund the very first Teddy Rocks event at The Corn Exchange in 2012, which raised £2,500. By 2013, Teddy Rocks had grown and needed more space, so they moved back to The Greyhound pub, raising £6,500 and £15,000 in 2014. In 2015, Teddy Rocks almost doubled this, raising an amazing £24,000. In 2016 the festival moved to a new site with a bigger capacity and the total raised was a staggering £42,800! In 2017 the festival moved again to a site large enough to facilitate car parking and camping alongside 4 stages and raised an immense £76,000. The festival found its home at Charisworth Farm in 2018 and raised a record £83,000, taking our total since the start to over a quarter of a million pounds raised. In 2019, Saturday was our first-ever sell out with gates at the box office closing just after 6.30pm. We smashed our target with £107,000 being raised for the charity and tickets went on sale during the event for 2020! Following the postponement of the festival due to Covid-19, in 2021 we raised £60,000 which was donated Teddy20, Bone Cancer Research, Young Lives vs Cancer and George’s Rockstars.&nbsp; TEDDY20’S PURPOSE AND VISION The charity's purpose continues to provide financial and emotional support to children and families undergoing treatment for cancer. In the past year, the charity has undertaken various fundraising activities involving local organisations and businesses so to help sustain and maintain our objectives in our region. Through working with the local communities, we have been able to continue our support of children and young people by providing financial support to families who may be struggling to meet the everyday demands of their child’s treatment. In addition, with our acquisition of a holiday home in Weymouth, Dorset the charity has been in a better position to provide continued emotional respite holiday breaks for families and their siblings away from hospitals and treatment. Teddy Rocks Wins UK’s Best Family Festival

100% of profit from the festival goes towards regional children's charities, specifically cancer charities.&nbsp; It's almost entirely volunteer run, with most of the crew being the same since its inception. So far the festival has raised over £420,000 for charity and aims to donate over £100,000 again next year. The Festival actively supports emerging acts and local music students.
