Helena Wardle

Financial Planner
Smith and Wardle Financial Planning
Helena began working at Nationwide in 2006 and decided early on that she wanted to become a financial adviser. Helena very much values learning and loves the challenge of getting to grips with complex and technical concepts, which is what lead her to become a Chartered Financial Planner. She took on a different challenge in 2018 and completed her MSc in Financial Planning. It was by far her most valuable learning experience; improving her objectivity, understanding of people, and her interest in academic reading and research. Most people are not confident about money, and yet they can improve their finances significantly by making changes. People simply did not understand money management and there is a lack of trusted resources to help. It is simple to see that good financial advice change lives, but people need this advice earlier and we need to work harder to improve trust in financial services. Most advice focuses on investments, when the first and most important thing is to understand the client and help them understand how money works in their life. In 2020 we set up Smith and Wardle, a new practice that focuses on each client as a human being and operates on transparent fixed fees. We now want to build a service to help more people.
