To playfully bring the product benefits of the Rivella Refresh drink closer, Rivella launched another augmented reality (AR) campaign in June, handing out free Rivella Refresh. It is the third AR campaign using technology from the agency Sensape, following a winter campaign in Swiss ski resorts and a summer campaign in Swiss train stations.Via the label of the promotional bottles, passers-by reach a WebAR experience with a competition on their smartphone, where a virtual Rivella Refresh bottle can be placed in the environment and viewed all around. Bubbles rise around it, creatively symbolizing the benefits of Rivella Refresh: natural sweetness, 40% less sugar and light taste. "Through the possibility of augmented reality, which is triggered by scanning the QR code on the bottle, the product benefits are explained interactively. This provides a digital brand experience, and handing out flyers can also be dispensed with in the interests of sustainability," says Andrea Murer, head of live marketing at Rivella.To get passers-by in shopping centres to interact even more with Rivella Refresh, they can also find out about the product benefits in a playful way. In an interactive AR-based game, the goal is to burst as many bubbles as possible with a virtual pin using gesture control and earn a personal high score. In keeping with the drink, sugar bubbles are to be avoided. Afterwards, there is a free Rivella Refresh from the promotion team and the chance to participate in a prize draw involving a balloon trip. The same game is also included in the so-called Digital Sampler from Sensape, which can be found in selected beverage cash-and-carry stores during the promotional period. If passers-by play the game, however, they can be refreshed afterwards quite automatically. "The opportunity to use gamification to highlight product benefits has been well received by customers. Participation in the Game has had a good response rate to date. The AI reliably recognizes external characteristics of people such as age, gender, emotions or 3D position. Now, it is also used to recognize people in video footage, enabling keying without the need for a professional camera setup and green screen. "Normally, the process of video keying is very complex and takes a lot of time. Working with chromakey also becomes exhausting once the video background is not even or poorly lit. With AI-based keying, we now get around these problems," says Sensape's Michael Lehnert. The agency uses its technology primarily for projects with sports clubs. The "Sensape Allstars" solution enables fans to virtually meet the club's stars and boosts sales and attendance figures as well as social media reach through shared photos of the fans. The video footage of the stars required for this can now be captured with little effort and without professional software, technology or a green screen. The AI recognizes the stars and cuts away the background in real-time. "Production time can thus be reduced to a fraction. Automatic AI-based keying without green screen

Sensape wins 3rd prize at Blooloop Innovation Award 2021

Rivella is using an augmented reality game at Swiss train stations to distributing product samples without personal contact in a marketing campaign. On September 27, Rivella launched another augmented reality (AR) campaign to distribute free Rivella. As with a winter campaign, technology from German company Sensape is again being used. Passers-by will automatically receive a drink from the so-called Digital Sampler as soon as they hold an arm up in the air. The campaigns will take place at train stations in Zurich, Bern, Aarau, Basel as well as St. Gallen. "You're so sweet, even the sugar loses its job." This is what many passers-by at Swiss train stations have been hearing since the end of September. Rivella's interactive sampling campaign is all about Rivella Refresh, the sparkling light variant with 40% less sugar than Rivella Red. Thanks to artificial intelligence, Sensape's solution recognizes when passersby approach the Digital Sampler, a beverage vending machine with an integrated AR display, and then addresses them via a speaker. If passersby stop, they are prompted to raise an arm to receive a free drink. The artificial intelligence recognizes the correct gesture and automatically dispenses bottles. Up to five passersby can receive their Rivella at the same time.&nbsp; The Swiss beverage company already worked with Sensape for a winter promotion in Swiss ski resorts, where virtual bottles had to be drunk in an AR game to receive a sample. "We are also using our gesture recognition in the new Rivella Refresh campaign. Instead of head movements, our Artificial Intelligence now detects arm movements of passers-by*. We also worked on our device and improved it. For this campaign, we fully integrated our AR promoter into the vending machine.
