Co-Founder Kate Mulligan conceived of Rest Space when she realised that she wasn’t the only one who loved napping. In fact, working in finance - juggling late nights and early morning starts - these naps were a necessary way to get through the working day. And it wasn’t just her, colleagues expressed similar sentiments, but when she searched for the best locations to nap in Canary Wharf the only thing that came up was recommendations for people at work to nap in the toilets.
The stigma of workplace napping makes employees feel like they have to hide their napping, but Kate began openly talking about napping at work. People began to share how professionally and socially beneficial napping was to them. And the research is pretty clear too - napping is good for you and has numerous health and personal benefits.
Co-Founders Kate and Supa dug into that research and were shocked to discover just how valuable napping is - that’s when they decided to create spaces for people to nap and tackle the stigma associated with it. They recognised that workplaces are placing an importance on employee wellbeing and rest spaces are crucial for that, especially in our non-stop lives. And so
