What impact is snow having on the property market today?

Journalist: Marc Shoffman, Freelance

I am keen to hear from estate agents, conveyancers, removal companies on what's happening in the snowy property market today?

Are viewings happening? Are completions delayed? Are moving vans stuck?

This is for a piece on the Estate Agent Today newsletter.

As temperatures drop below freezing, property owners who are not moving into their new homes straightaway should check their buildings insurance; empty properties are treated very differently by many insurers and you may need to speak to your insurance provider. They may want you to do internal inspections on the property every few days, or if the plan is to leave the property empty for longer than 30 days, they may need you to turn off the water and drain the system. The biggest risk is pipes freezing in an empty, unheated property, which then results in significant water damage when the pipes then defrost and the water can now run freely with noone there to notice the problem and limit the damage.
