What are you doing for Good Money Week?

Journalist: Carmen Reichman, FTAdviser

ended 30. September 2024

Dear advisers

Next week is Good Money Week and historically I know that quite a few of you have come up with some great initiatives around it.

What are you doing this year?

I'd like to hear from as many of you as possible about all things big and small!

It's for FT Adviser.

If you're doing anything else to promote sustainable finance, which might not be strictly part of GMW, please do share your stories about this too.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Carmen

As we approach GMW, at Sad Rabbit, we are keen to raise awareness of our mission of promoting fairer access to financial markets. Our objectives closely mirror GMW's, particularly in our shared commitment to making investing accessible to everyone and empowering individuals to take control of their financial futures. As part of this mission, we have developed tools to level the playing field for new investors and allow more people to take a hands-on role in building and managing their portfolios. The current investment landscape is complicated, time-consuming, and expensive, with many individuals dissuaded due to the antiquated systems in place. Our platform provides a vast array of free resources designed to allow any budding investor to understand the fundamentals of investing, build their portfolio, and achieve long-term financial goals. There is absolutely zero cost for our services, and you don’t even need an account to view our data, that’s how much we believe in this mission.

As part of Good Money Week, I am committed to promoting sustainable finance by actively engaging and educating clients on the importance of sustainable and ethical investment options. This effort is not just about financial returns, but about making investment decisions that are aligned with broader social and environmental goals. I aim to empower clients to understand how their financial choices can have a meaningful impact on the world while still working towards their personal financial objectives.
I am offering complimentary reviews of clients' current investment portfolios, including their pension holdings, to help identify opportunities for shifting towards more sustainable and ethical investment options. These reviews allow me to provide tailored, clear, and actionable recommendations based on the client's unique financial goals, risk tolerance, and personal values ensuring their investments reflect both their financial aspirations and ethical beliefs.

I am doing my bit for Good Money Week by running a workshop all about “How we do Christmas…..” As a money coach and therapist, I notice that how people do Christmas is often how they generally approach their finances

Last minute
No planning
Throw everything at it – due to last minute hurdles or guilt
Experience a new year financial hangover

My aim of the workshop is to:

How to plan Christmas with ease and little pain
Create a values based Christmas
Set Christmas boundaries that work for all the family
How to talk about Christmas so that we are open and honest about expectations etc
Explore our creativity so that Christmas is joyful whilst being satisfyingly executed brilliantly
Come out of Christmas and New Year looking forward to building during 2025, not suffering the cost of 2024.
Show that how we do Christmas is akin to how we can do everything…

Front foot finance – front foot life!

Happy to chat… I am in a bit of a rush as the first workshop is tonight… A little before GMW

Sustainable finance when advising clients in mortgages and their relevant future planning is top of the agenda., regarldess what week it is. Most recently, I have been involved with many individuals who have taken the plunge into self employed or started their own business.

As a self employed individual myself, it's daunting, however, I am able to not only assist in their mortgage planning and other financial plans, but also the management of being self employed and what I would call "good money advice" when starting out in self employed. Whether that be in their pension funding, reviewing old penisons or even just passing on general advice of helpful points when self employed.

It's a communal benefit and hopefully the advice and ideas I have passed have benefitted others.
