What are buyers looking for in a used car that'll make it easier to sell?

ended 07. October 2025

Research from AA Cars has shown that 55% of motorists put parking aids among their top three must‑have common features when choosing a used car.

Built-in sat-navs (40%) and heated windscreens (34%) are also high on the list - which both offer convenience and practicality for everyday journeys.

Bluetooth connectivity (34%) and USB charging ports (21%) are also essential for many - ensuring drivers can stay connected and powered on the go.

However, while younger drivers tend to prioritise modern tech such as Bluetooth and USB charging, older drivers seem to value more traditional features like built-in sat-navs.

James Hosking, Managing Director of AA Cars, said: “Parking aids have moved from nice-to-have to essential for many used-car buyers.

“It shows how technology once reserved for premium models is now within reach."

  • Do you have experience of buying or selling cars which does or doesn't have parking aids? How important is it that cars have them? Was it easier/harder to sell depending on if you had them?
  • What other features do you need on a car to sell it easier?
  • How much money do you think would be added to the value of a car if it had parking aids?
  • Any other examples of how much money a feature would add to a car?

Parking aids take away a lot of the stress and anxiety that comes with squeezing into tight spaces, especially in busy towns and cities. They make driving more enjoyable and are often the difference between a quick sale and a car that sits on the market. Features like Bluetooth and good sound systems also matter because most people spend a lot of time commuting, and being able to easily play music or take calls makes a big difference to the daily drive.
