Wanted: broker with cladding experience

ended 13. January 2023

FTAdviser is looking for a cladding case study, specifically a broker with a client who is now able to sell their property because of the lender changes at the end of last year. The journalist is also keen to speak to the broker about their whole experience of the cladding issue and the new lender changes. Is that you?

We have had a number of failed purchase cases, both residential and buy to let, where not only a huge amount of cost and time have been wasted, but it affects our clients significantly. Some have suffered with mental illness as a result of being stuck in a property with little prospect of selling, and potentially having to find a lot of money to contribute to cladding work.

As brokers we have to spend a lot of time checking properties that clients wish to buy (or sell) and our role becomes more than just a broker - typical due dilligence work, but often find the estate agents just ignore the problems, when you ask for reports they take forever, or give half baked answers to our clients. Being associated with a bad transaction through no fault of our own is not fun.
