Universal Credit and mortgages
Following new data published this morning showing that there were 8m people on Universal Credit in July 2025, up from 6.9 million people in July last year, we're keen for brokers to tell us how lenders approach UC, which type of lenders are more accommodative of it (specialist, high street, building societies), and what % of a UC payment lenders will typically use in their affordability assessments? Also, have you been seeing more borrowers relying on it over the past year? What's your advice to the now 1m more people who are receiving it? Any insights, send them across ASAP.
