Trackable coverage links are coming to Newspage Pro
For Newspage Pro subscribers, starting this week, every link to your website in a story we wire will carry a Newspage tag ('UTM' for the marketers and SEO geeks) identifying the News Alert that powered it. Combined with the referrer your analytics already collect, that tells you the exact article, too.
So when a national, local or trade title runs a Newspage article on the back of a News Alert, the visitors it sends you will show up in your Google Analytics labelled "Newspage" — with the alert that started it next to them.
What that gives you. Right now, if the Mirror links to you, your analytics say "mirror.co.uk" and nothing else. You can't tell which story it was, or that it came through us. With the tag you can.
You'll see exactly which articles sent people to your site, and how many people visited. Ask a new client how they found you and you can trace them back to the article.
We've checked the page code on countless articles Newspagers have featured in during 2026 and our links come through intact — publishers add nofollow, some allow a do-follow, nothing else. This works.
What this won't do.
- Whether a publisher gives you a do-follow or a no-follow link, the tag makes no difference to the SEO value. It's an analytics label, nothing more.
- Many publishers don't link at all. Which matters far less these days, as AI agents couldn't give a hoot if there's a link or not. They can still cite you based on credibility and perceived relevance.
