Story for The Times: Return of the accidental landlord

Journalist: George Nixon, The Times and The Sunday Times

ended 23. February 2023

Good afternoon, we're working on a story for The Times about accidental landlords.

They seem to be sliiiightly coming back, with a few more than last year, who can't sell their properties - likely flats - so are renting them out instead. This is a situation my own landlord seems to be in!

Have you any clients in this situation who'd be happy to have a chat, please?

Thanks so much!

We get these from time to time and basically, it's a case of trying to either sell, or be assessed for the mortgage debt to be in your name. A few times, this is not actually a good option and selling is best. But what happens when you can't sell? You ar forced to rent it out! The best advice would be to get in touch with a letting agent who can help you with it. Maximise profit until you can sell or until you are comfortable with being a landlord.
