Sky News request: Looking for a lawyer
Hello
I hope you are well.
I'm a money reporter for Sky News and I help to look after our Money Problem section, where readers get in touch with their financial disputes, and we try to solve them.
I'm looking for a lawyer who can explain the risks and responsibilities of being a guarantor in this situation:
“I went guarantor for my son for a franchisee as a driving instructor less then a year ago and during my sons time at John Benson school of motoring he became unhappy with the way he was being treated, ultimately he and Benson agreed he could leave his contract and Benson appointed his solicitor to draw up a settlement which amounted to £40000 plus 6% interest and as guarantor I had to agree to this if my son failed to pay. Subsequently the relationship between me and my son has broken down and he won’t contact me to discuss this debt and I have been covering the £500 a month for the last 6 months, I am struggling to find this money but have been told if any payments are missed the debt will become payable in full and could possibly be raised to £100k”
If you are able to help, please email me at jessica.sharp@sky.uk
Many thanks
Jess
