Should Labour end the freeze on income tax thresholds?

Labour has chosen not to reverse the freeze on income tax thresholds inherited from the Conservatives.  

According to government data cited by AJ Bell, 4.4 million more people will be dragged into paying income tax in the current tax year.

AJ Bell estimates this will raise £63.2bn extra for the Exchequer this year compared to 2021-22.

The Daily Express is looking for strong views in three to four sentences on whether Labour is right not to end the freeze.

My view is that yes, most definitely Labour should lift the freeze. The effect of the freeze is to give hidden tax rises to millions of people, and for many people will see any pay rise they got this year swallowed up by tax. No income tax rises, should mean no income tax rises, not a hidden tax rise via the back door.
